One of a kind, Victor Moscoso, piece of art. This is an enlarged reproduction of his famous "Finger" poster. This promoted three, 2/2-4/68 gigs at the Avalon Ballroom with the Electric Flag, Mad River, the Fugs and the 13th Floor Elevators. The 'Elevators didn't perform at this gig as, I have heard, some of the other acts on this poster. This classic psychedelic image, "THE FINGER POSTER", was designed by Victor Moscoso, and is referred to as FD 104 in the Bill Graham Fillmore series.
In the Seventies, Chet Helms was promoting gigs at the Maritime Hall in San Francisco. He commissioned the poster artists to make giant reproductions of some of their work. Victor Moscoso did this and signed it.
When the venture went bust, Helms gave these piece of art away! Now this, one-of-a-kind, piece of psychedelic art is in my possession! What a nice 13th Floor Elevators Avalon Ballroom Poster!
Victor’s psychedelic poster creations often utilize wildly intricate typography. Moscoso is also famous for alternating deeply saturated colors that when viewed together will create a vibrating effect.
In 1968, Victor became one of the main contributors to Robert Crumb’s Zap Comix. Over the past forty years his distinctive designs have appeared on magazines, billboards and music LP & CD covers.
