Check out this cool 13th Floor Elevators poster! It's showing a shared bill with Shiva's Headband at the Doris Miller Auditorium on 12/1/1967. From the looks of it the poster artist was stewed to the gills on Listerine while doing this design.
Doris Miller Auditorium was constructed in 1942 for the recreation needs of the Armed Forces and USO programs. In the Fifties, "teen cantina" is fondly remembered by East Austin residents. The facility was named after Doris "Dorie" Miller, a hero at Pearl Harbor, and the first African American recipient of the Navy's the highest honor, the Navy Cross. He served in the U.S. Navy and was recognized for his great heroism during the attack on Pearl Harbor. Miller was presented the Navy Cross by Admiral Nimitz on May 27, 1942. He was killed in combat shortly after in the Pacific.
